I did it as a goof

I'm mostly writing today's installment to promise that next week we'll get back to our regular routine of two substantive blog posts about things that are of potential interest to people. I hope that you all enjoy your long weekend* and I am hopeful that I'll have something to announce next week, but in the event that I don't, just forget that I said anything!

*If you happen to live in the United States and also happen to be granted a long weekend.

Life continues to be a neverending horror show, and for some reason the current state of the American health system (and the people in charge of it) keep reminding me of this segment from the David Wain movie The Ten for some strange reason:

Did something horrible happen? Are many more horrible things going to continue to happen for a very long time to a great many people? It's okay; they did it as a goof.

NOTE: They did not do it as a goof.
